Student Ambassador

JOB SPECIFICS:

  • Located at Bellin College located at 3201 Eaton Road in Green Bay, WI 54311
  • Limited Term 0.1 FTE – Variable Hours & Days

 POSITION SUMMARY:

  • The Bellin College Student Ambassador will serve the admissions office and other college departments, while providing information to prospective students, and visitors in a pleasant manner, during on and off campus events.This position requires the student to be actively enrolled in a program at Bellin College.

 KEY DUTIES AND EXPECTATIONS:

  • Assists both prospective/current students and their families in their transition to the Bellin College community
  • Actively participates in trainings and meetings
  • Serves as a contributing member of the Bellin College Ambassador team
  • Participates in at least five events in the duration of the ambassador contract. This includes at least two campus tours per semester
  • Encourages new students to attend Week of Welcome functions
  • Participates in Ambassador Activities and meetings as a second priority, immediately following academics, throughout the duration of the program
  • Works collaboratively with the Admissions Office, Bellin College, and the Ambassador team
  • Acknowledges that this is a high-profile position where prospective/current students, their families and guests will be observing actions, responses, reactions, and behaviors
  • Acts as a role model to prospective/current students, behaving in such manner becoming of a role model. Examples of not being a role model include but are not limited to: drinking alcoholic beverages underage, posting negative information online (i.e. Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram, Tik Tok, etc.), not following Bellin College student handbook/policies, etc.
  • Wears the ambassador nametag and/or uniform during all events, maintains good personal hygiene, and follows the college dress code
  • Communicates concerns over job responsibilities or conditions to appropriate person
  • Demonstrates behavior consistent with Bellin College’s values
  • Provides culturally appropriate service

Health Science Resource Center (HSRC) Student Assistant

The Health Sciences Resource Center (HSRC) Student Assistant supports the activities of the HSRC. This position is responsible for activities as delegated by the HSRC staff. 

Qualifications:

Bellin College student in good standing within the program, required. Certified nursing assistant or successful completion of basic nursing foundations/fundamentals coursework with demonstration and articulation of skill set. Computer literate with knowledge of, and ability to, effectively and appropriately use hardware, software, and other HSRC equipment.

Nursing

Nursing Assistant Instructor

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Nursing Assistant (NA) Instructor is responsible for the planning, implementing, and evaluation of the assigned student learning experiences in the classroom, lab, and/or clinical setting for students enrolled in the NA Program.

KEY DUTIES AND EXPECTATIONS:

  • Promotes the mission, values, positive manner with all staff, participants and partners through consistent exchange of information in a transparent and collaborative environment.
  • Delivers the curriculum based on knowledge and skills mandated by the State of Wisconsin to build knowledge and develop clinical skills aimed at assisting students to obtain the CNA certification. This instructor will maintain an active teaching role including but not limited to classroom, skills lab or clinical experiences.
  • Provides a stimulating environment that encourages student participation, interpersonal skills development, and concepts of good patient care.
  • Evaluates and documents students’ progress through observation, testing and assessment of skills attained.
  • Evaluates students’ clinical progress regularly using assessments tools.
  • Provides accurate documentation on all students, including but not limited to attendance records, classroom, lab, and clinical performance.
  • Communicates effectively with students, fellow team members, Bellin College personnel and clinical agency staff.
  • Provides input into the evaluation of the curriculum to meet State and Federal requirements and address the needs of the students.
  • Participates in regular meetings and communications with the NA Program Coordinator and NA Lead Instructor regarding programmatic needs, student progress, and/or clinical site issues.
  • Assists with new student orientations.
  • Serves as a resource to college committees as required.
  • Participates in the College wide efforts of continuous quality improvement.
  • Promotes effective and positive working relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Maintains professional confidentiality in all matters relating to college functions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education – Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred. Associate degree in nursing accepted with a BS or BA in another field.
  • Licensure – Must hold a current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Wisconsin or Nurse Licensure Compact state.
  • Must have approval by the State of Wisconsin to teach the NA program.
  • Experience: Two years of full-time or equivalent direct care experience as a registered nurse; experience in long term care preferred
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with HIPAA regulations

  • Ability to use teaching, learning, and curriculum development and evaluation principles.
    • Self-starter with ability to work responsibly on both an independent and team player basis.
    • Strong interpersonal skills which include the use of group process and counseling/guidance principles

Adjunct Faculty - BSN Program

The adjunct faculty member is responsible for the planning, implementing, and evaluation of the assigned student learning experiences in the classroom and/or clinical settings.

Qualifications:

Must hold a Masters degree in nursing with clinical specialization appropriate to their area of teaching responsibility. Doctoral preparation in nursing is preferred. A current, unencumbered RN license in the State of WI or Nurse Licensure Compact state is required. A minimum of two years of full-time or equivalent direct care experience as a practicing nurse is required, and must be employed in nursing within the last five years. There is a need for competency in applying principles of learning, in teaching, curriculum development, and in the clinical area of assignment.

Adjunct Faculty - Graduate Nursing

The adjunct faculty member is responsible for the planning, implementing and evaluation of the assigned student learning experiences in the classroom and/or clinical setting. A fully qualified adjunct faculty member could be a course facilitator for a non-clinical course.

  • Usually non-ranked faculty (individuals previously ranked by this institution or another will be reviewed for title purposes).
  • Hired on a temporary, “as needed” basis.
  • May be individuals who have not yet met the minimum qualifications for nursing faculty (exception described below).

QUALIFICATIONS:

The Wisconsin Code and accreditation criteria together require that faculty;

  • Holds a Master’s degree in nursing with clinical specialization appropriate to their area of teaching responsibility. The minimum expectation is a Master’s degree; however, doctoral preparation in nursing is preferred.
  • Faculty teaching non-clinical courses (e.g. issues and trends, research, management, pharmacology, pathophysiology) have advanced preparation appropriate to their area of responsibility.
  • Hold a current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) License in the State of Wisconsin or Nurse Licensure Compact state.
  • Have at least two years of full-time or equivalent direct care experience as a practicing nurse.
  • Be employed in nursing within the last five years.

In addition, the College has identified the need for competency in applying principles of learning, in teaching, curriculum development, and in the clinical area of assignment. These competency requirements may be obtained through academic credit, institutes, extension courses, continuing education offerings, and experience.

Faculty members, including adjunct faculty, shall hold a “current license to practice as a registered nurse in Wisconsin, have at least 2 years of full-time or equivalent direct care experience as a practicing nurse, be employed in nursing within the last 5 years, and hold a master’s degree with a major in nursing. The only exception is an individual for which the State of Wisconsin has granted temporary approval as faculty while they complete their master’s degree. (From: Wisconsin Statutes and Administrative Code Relating to the Practice of Nursing, July 1997, Faculty, page 91).
